
Since 2018, to the delight of art lovers and specialists, works by the painter are available online. It is the result of titanic work. Art historians from the Flemish Primitive Study Center of the Royal Institute for Artistic Heritage (IRPA) in Brussels, their colleagues from the image department and the Musea Brugge / Kenniscentrum have worked hard to carry out this project. It was also praised by the 2019 Europa Nostra award.
On this site, you can admire around twenty works exhibited around the world before and after their restoration. It is also very intuitive and each image is zoomable. This allows professionals to carry out comparative studies, as well as amateurs to satisfy their passion. A feat that you can enjoy at any time from home by visiting the Closer to Van Eyck site .
This is not all, however, you can also find works by the painter on the site of the Groeninge Museum in Bruges. The museum’s online collection immerses you in a few clicks into the world of Jan Van Eyck.
