Challenges in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Subsector in Nigeria

Challenges in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Subsector in Nigeria

Artisanal small-scale fishers from inland rivers, lakes, coasts, and brackish water generate more than 80% of total domestic production (i.e creeks, lagoons and rivers). Fisheries is a significant economic sector, directly employing over 8.6 million people and indirectly employing another 19.6 million, with women accounting for 70% of the workforce.

It is therefore our pleasure to invite you to a webinar titled “Proffering Solutions to the Challenges of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Subsector in Nigeria”. In this webinar, our Guest Speakers from Olam and Efugo Farms, and our panelists will discuss the challenges that fisheries and the aquaculture sector are facing currently, as well as potential solutions. Dr. Abba Yakubu Abdullah of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) will deliver the keynote speech.
