The World Bank and IFC are pleased to announce the launch of a new report:

Nigeria’s Digital Economy Diagnostic: A Plan for Building Nigeria’s Inclusive Digital Future.

The new report highlights the need for strategic investment and interventions in order for Nigeria to kick start its digital transformation.

Nigeria has taken several positive steps in the digital space, according to the report, including improving access to high-speed internet and providing an increasing number of digital platforms. However, for the country to become the thriving digital economy that it can be – creating jobs for the growing youth population and contributing to the country’s GDP—it will need to better support digital entrepreneurship as an engine of economic growth, expanding opportunities beyond Lagos and Abuja.

Nigeria’s vibrant digital entrepreneurial ecosystem coupled with a large mobile market and strong mobile broadband infrastructure will power its efforts to become more competitive in the 21st century and play an even bigger role in Sub Saharan Africa’s digital economy.
